| Man of Many Mediums: A
Richard Chamberlain Tribute
This series is an Aero Theatre Exclusive!
Actor Richard Chamberlain has shown equal mastery of stage,
film and television over the course of more than 50 years in show business. From his
star-making role as Dr. Kildare in the 1960s to appearances in everything from Shakespeare
(HAMLET on both stage and TV) to disaster movies (THE TOWERING INFERNO) and two of the
best miniseries in history ("The Thorn Birds" and "Shogun"),
Chamberlain has kept audiences captivated. Join us at the Aero for a selection of his
finest film work, classics on which Chamberlain collaborated with master filmmakers Peter
Weir, Richard Lester, and Ken Russell.
We are thrilled to welcome Richard Chamberlain at the Aero
Theatre!

THE LAST WAVE, 1977, Janus Films, 106 min. Director
Peter Weir's haunting supernatural parable stars Richard Chamberlain as a lawyer hired to
defend an Aboriginal man accused of murder. As he delves deeper into the case, Chamberlain
starts experiencing hallucinatory dreams and premonitions of a terrible impending disaster
in which he plays a pivotal role. Discussion following with
actor Richard Chamberlain. Buy Tickets
Saturday, May 1 7:30 PM
Double Feature: PETULIA,
1968, Warner Bros., 105 min. Dir. Richard Lester. George C. Scott is a middle-aged
physician who finds himself drawn into the mad, idealistic and desperately sad whirlwind
life of Julie Christie, who is unhappily married to Richard Chamberlain (in one of his
best early performances), at the height of San Francisco's Summer of Love. Beautifully
photographed by Nicolas Roeg, and featuring brief, ultra-rare appearances in their prime
by Janis Joplin (with Big Brother & The Holding Company) and The Grateful Dead. Trailer
THE MUSIC LOVERS, 1970, MGM Repertory, 123 min.
Dir. Ken Russell. Ken Russell applies his typically outrageous and original sensibility to
the story of Tchaikovsky (Richard Chamberlain) and the woman (Glenda Jackson) he marries
and abandons. Eschewing the usual biopic conventions, Russell follows the life of the
great composer through expressionistic flashbacks, nightmares and fantasy sequences. Discussion in between films with actor Richard Chamberlain, moderated by
Neil LaBute. Buy Tickets
