We're Holding A Seat For You, But It's Getting Soaked! As many of you have noticed, the Egyptian Theatre suffered serious water damage from the heavy rains. Repair comes with a hefty price tag, since our roof isnt exactly small. We need your help more than ever right now to keep the ship watertight for continued extreme movie-watching. Below we suggest donating for a seat in your name, but we have donations at smaller and greater levels too. Joining the Cinematheque at any level also helps bring in much needed funding for our programs. Call us today to find out how you can help us keep "afloat." If watching movies at the Egyptian Theatre is your passion, why not have a seat or other area of the theatre named for yourself, your company, your film or?? Your gift to the Egyptian will help us to maintain the theatre and keep rare and unusual films rolling on the big screen. If you love what we do, give us your support today! Your company may also match gifts. Donations are tax-deductible. For more information, call Barbara Smith at 323.461.2020, ext. 111
WE WANT TO HEAR WHAT THE CINEMATHEQUE MEANS TO YOU! The Cinematheque is in the process of putting together a new membership brochure. Recently many of you have approached various staff members at the theatre to express your love for our programming and the fondness you have for the Egyptian. We'd love to get those comments in print in our new brochure and for use on our website (sort of a testimonials section). What we are looking for are thoughtful comments about what it means to you to be able to see the kinds of films we show at the Egyptian Theatre as part of the American Cinematheque's programming. You can be specific or general in your comments. Share your passion. Be philosophical. How does what we do feed your soul? Why do you think what we do is important? You don't have to be a member to participate, but if you are, please indicate your membership number in your e-mail and your name of course, for any submission. Volunteers, please let us know you are a volunteer. We are also looking for comments about your experience volunteering (how has it enhanced your life) for our new volunteer flyer. Donations We are accepting donations of film related books, periodicals and posters to sell at a sale in our courtyard to raise money for Cinematheque programs. Call 323.461.2020, ext. 121 if you have something to donate. We also need a TV monitor, VHS VCR and a Beta deck. If you have something you don't want anymore, we might need it. Call us to find out!!
