HOLLYWOOD STARS LINE-UP TO SALUTE GLENN FORD TONIGHT LEGENDARY ICON HONORED AT 90th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
HOLLYWOOD, California May 01, 2006. ----- Monday May 1st is the 90th birthday of one of the most legendary icons from Hollywoods Golden Age GLENN FORD.
Many of Glenn Fords closest Hollywood friends, co-stars and admirers will be saluting him at a star-studded celebration at Graumans Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on this night.

Several of the stars will deliver informal tributes to Ford. Many other stars are also expected to attend.
The American Cinematheque celebration includes a special screening of the newly-restored 35mm print one of Glenn Fords most famous films the 1946 classic "Gilda" co-starring Rita Hayworth with whom Ford starred in five pictures. (The screening also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the release of "Gilda.")
Glenn Ford is planning to make a very rare personal appearance at the event his first public appearance in 15 years - for the pre-screening birthday salutations which will include special messages from dignitaries and friends honoring a Hollywood career that spanned seven decades of the 20th century.
The event takes place on his actual birthday Monday May 1st at the American Cinematheques permanent home the restored 1922 landmark movie palace Graumans Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
To salute the occasion - Johnny Grant, the Honorary Mayor of Hollywood will present a replica of Glenn Fords star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. (Ford was awarded his star in 1958 at a time before the now-familiar induction ceremonies.)
After birthday salutations from some of the stars who worked with Glenn Ford during his 54 working years in 108 film and television roles attendees will see the restored 35mm print of "Gilda" (courtesy of Sony Pictures) and "Night in Manhattan" the ultra-rare 1937 short film in which Glenn Ford made his big screen debut. The night will culminate with a birthday cake reception in the Egyptian Theatre courtyard for all attendees sponsored by Moet & Chandon Champagne and Chopin Vodka.
